Local wound infection
Although there are many scientific aspects of the important relevance of bacteria in relationship with a delay of wound healing, up to now direct connections are still not completely understood. In systemic infections, both the diagnostic and the therapeutic procedure are well described for clinical practice. In clinical situations, which are described as local wound infection, the procedures are, however, not clear. The problems begin already with the nomenclature which is not used uniformly. In addition, diagnostic and therapeutic concepts are seen interdisciplinary many differences. Therefore, the practical implementation also varies.
In this Wund-DACH key session on local wound infections, the different perspectives of different disciplines from the point of view of microbiology, dermatology and surgery of the German speaking countries Switzerland, Austria and Germany are presented and discussed critically.
