Health-related quality of life – the patient´s perspective

Wound treatment is complex and needs a multi professional approach. From one perspective, it is important to establish knowledge on treatment efficacy and safety, and from another perspective, it is essential to get a deeper understanding of which impact the wound and the treatment has on the patient's experience of the treatment, as well as his or her health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and everyday life.

Although there are numerous publications regarding HRQoL and wellbeing, a structured overview of the the instruments available for assessment and measurement within wound management is still not available.

EWMA is therefore working on a document with the objective to highlight the importance of evaluating the patient´s HRQoL in relation to wound management, and provide an overview of the available instruments as well as recommendations for evaluating specific wound related QoL issues.

In this session, key factors in wound related QoL and HR QoL assessment will be introduced and discussed.
