Use of oxygen therapies in wound care

This session will present the outline and main topics of debate of the EWMA document ”Use of oxygen therapies in wound care” which is currently being developed and is expected to be published during Spring 2017 in preparation for the EWMA 2017 conference in Amsterdam.

The document aims at providing an overview and practice oriented guidance about the current use of various forms of oxygen therapies in wound healing. It will provide an overview of treatment options available, as well as an assessments of the best available evidence on their respective results. The document will go into details with specific aspects and current discussions connected with the use of oxygen in wound healing including. Specific presentations include (All speakers are yet to be named):

·  Introduction to the use of oxygen in wound healing

·  Hypoxia, biofilm and effects on wound healing

·  Selection of patients for oxygen therapies treatment

·  Comparative aspects of the use of oxygen therapies in Europe and

   the USA
